Clear out your closets and make some cash consigning with us!

Here at Alice's Closet Boutique, we are accepting summer women's apparel, lightly used shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories. We are in full summer effect! We offer a 50/50 split with our consignors, which can be used for future purchases on account credit, or, you can opt for a cash-out!

As we approach summer, here are some great tips for cleaning out your closets, sorting through clothes, and make some cash through consigning! Here are our tips:

*If you haven't worn an item in one year, it may be time to consign.
*If some of your clothing does not fit well properly, or is no longer flattering, and is in good condition, you may want to consign.
*If you have worn a piece of clothing for a formal event but do no plan on wearing it again, it may be a good time to consign.
*If you have a classic style of an item, but hardly wear it, it may be time to consign (e.g., pencil skirt, button down shirts, blazers, dress pants, etc.).
*If you have clothing that is dated, but in good condition, you may want to donate to your local charities or churches.

Alice's Closet Boutique - Tips on Caring for Your Jewelry!

Greetings, everyone!

As you know, jewelry and accessories - whether casual, formal, or somewhere in between, - can definitely dress up any outfit and make a statement. Here are some tips for different kinds of jewelry with every-day cleaning products (and most are environmentally-friendly!).

Silver:

Store with a small piece of chalk - this will help with the tarnishing process, clean silver with toothpaste (not gel), rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Polish regularly with polishing cloth to keep tarnish-free (as needed).

Precious stones:

To keep precious baubles shining bright, dip them in white vinegar, alcohol, or clear vodka for a minute or two and rinse dry.

Pearls:

Check the string regularly; if they are more vintage, oxi-clean dipping is ok - do NOT soak them - just dip, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Also, consult a local jeweler if they appear weak for a restringing...it is worth it and will extend their life for years to come.

Gold (genuine):

Soak gold in warm water diluted with dish-washing liquid (such as dawn) for approximately 15 minutes, rinse, and pat dry. An inexpensive investment is a polishing cloth and can be used for a high-polish shine.

Wishing you a happy spring filled with happiness, sunshine, and style! Stop by our boutique for the most chic, sophisticated styles - always at bargain prices!

Spring is here! Here are some practical tips to store your winter clothes!

Happy Spring, all! The boutique is in full spring mode, and we are gearing up for Easter, as well! Check out our Facebook page for featured items and updates: https://www.facebook.com/AlicesClosetLlc

Here are some useful and practical tips you can use when storing your winter clothes - this will help your clothes last longer year after year!

Tips - storing winter clothes:
  • Wash or dry clean all clothing before putting away, as body oils attract pests (such as bugs) that may ruin clothes.
  • Dry clean winter coats before putting away or hanging.
  • Clean boots and leathers before putting away (we also recommend polishing with mink oil); storage in a cotton (or 'breathable') bag is a must for leather, otherwise, leather may lose its supple texture and soles may dry rot.
  • Wool apparel (such as trousers or sweaters) lasts longer on cedar hangers.
  • When putting clothes away in bins, or placing on hangers in a closet, it is best to use white tissue paper to separate clothing - this will keep clothing neat and fresh during storage.
Do-it-yourself moth repellant:

We love 'natural' and 'green' household cleaners and such - this is good for the earth, and most do-it-yourself household products work for any budget! For a moth (or pest) repellant, take one old knee-high tube sock or an old pair of panty hose. You will need dried lavender, mint, and rosemary, as well as a few cinnamon sticks. Mix equal parts of the dried herbs and a couple cinnamon sticks and put them into the hose (or sock). You can hang in your closet, which will even give your apparel a hint of fresh scents when you wear them!
